Great Ocean Road Trip

We decided to take a slight diversion and head a little further West from Melbourne along the Southern Coast and the famous Great Ocean Road, before heading North for warmer climates. The scenery was worth it, but we must be getting soft. It feels rather chilly in June on the bottom of Oz!

The Great Ocean Road is the most photographed coastline of Australia, and justifiably so (at least the few times that the sun was shining). When not enjoying the spectacular lookouts and sounds of massive waves crashing in, we hiked through lush rainforests of the Otway. We hoped to spot a Koala or Platapus, but weren’t so fortunate. Starting to think they don’t exist

Apollo BayThis was a sleepy little town on the beach, that we imagine gets pretty rocking in the summer. But alas, 'tis winter - doah! We stayed at this camp ground in an aluminum box listening to waves wondering what it would be like to actually go play in them. 🙁

Falls in the Otway'sThe Otway National Park is a beautiful patch of land just North of the Great Ocean Road in the Southern part of the mainland. Plenty of trecking available, including the gem that led us to this pretty waterfall close to sunset.

Lake ElizabethWe headed straight for Lake Elizabeth in the Otways, home of until now, a colony of imaginary Platypus! Unfortunately, we didn't spot one, but the loop around the lake was fabulous. Many, many tree-ferns.

Natural BridgeJust off the Great Ocean Road, a natural bridge showing off it's natural beauty.

Twelve ApostlesThese are the world famous and very scenic 12 apostles off the Great Ocean Road, (although I belive one of them might have fallen over a few years ago). 11 apostles?
