Cairns, Queensland, Australia
Splurging for a night in posh Cairns. We arrived at our hotel this am only to find it was over booked. Luckily, they had made arrangements with a 4 star resort hotel to have us stay there instead for the same price…. gotta hate that – not! 🙂 Once again, the Grant principal prevails… don’t worry, everything works itself out.
After living in small bunk-bed rooms, with shared kitchens and baths, this place seemed palatial. There was a “lounge room”, a bedroom with ensuite bath AND shower, and a fully stocked kitchenette.
We did leave the palace a few times, and explored the town, strolled along the harbour and the esplinade (which is completely under contstruction right now. Should be nice when it’s done), and enjoyed a glass of wine or two at the sidewalk cafes. But we only had one night in Cairns before catching our flight to Darwin, so there’s not much more we can tell you about Cairns.
