Lovina

Lovina, Bali, Indonesia

Hanging in Lovina at Nirwana SeaSide Cottages for a few days for diving, massage, and living Balinese style… I highly recommend this hotel. Very clean, spacious, modern (yet with character), comfortable, and with beautiful grounds and pool. Good value too, especially when you pay ahead for more than one day.

We took a bus direct to Lovina, on the northern side of the island. This is a good spot to station yourself for diving at Manjengan island, and relatively easy station to start from to get to our next stop: Amed (for diving the Liberty wreck). FYI… It seems that the dives to other places on the island are cheapest through the dive operators in Lovina, despite the 1 1/2 hour shuttle ride they have to provide.

We signed up right away to dive off of Manjengen Island. Visibility was incredible, and the wall was beautiful. If felt like we were swimming through someone’s massive, well maintained, coral reef aquarium that had been filled with hundreds of different kinds of fish and coral.

After the dive, Grant’s ear started bothering him, so we put off doing any more dives until he started feeling better. We went for another massage, and spent the next couple of days relaxing at the cafe and by the pool, and trying to update our travel blog 🙂
