Home of the  Mehrangarh Fort. It’s a beautiful structure, with excellent views of the city. The best way to see this particular fort is with the aid of a rented audio tour unit. As we walked through the complex, our audio guide told us stories of what it was like living in this fort. I try to immagine what it was like for the king’s wives, in such a mansion, full of beautiful courtyards, carved marble, and luxury. Who needs love when you have all that?

His Highness The Maharaja Gaj Singh II had set up a trust, the objective of which is to preserve and promote Indian art and culture.

02 Red HandsIn the past, wives of Hindu faith would commit "Sati" which is the act of throwing themselves on their husband's pyre to be cremated with him. In Royal funerals (where the King dies), all of his wives and concubines would be included in the trajedy. These red hands found at the gate of the fort are actual molds of the women who joined their husband on the pyre.
